WiFi Calling

Although we have decent cell service at the cabin, you may want to consider enabling WiFi calling on your phone if you are dropping calls. Our cabin has excellent high-speed WiFi for streaming, work, and smart devices, but for some carriers, cellular signal can be inconsistent inside and around the property; for reliable voice calls and texts we recommend using WiFi calling or internet-based messaging apps if your cell service is poor.

On iOS: open Settings → Phone → Wi-Fi Calling and toggle on “Wi-Fi Calling on This iPhone”; if prompted, enter or confirm your emergency address. When connected to the cabin WiFi and Wi‑Fi Calling is enabled, your phone will automatically route calls and texts over the internet when cellular signal is weak — you’ll see “Wi‑Fi” next to your carrier name while a call uses Wi‑Fi.

On Android (general steps — wording may differ by device/carrier): open Settings → Connections or Network & Internet → Wi‑Fi Calling and enable it (or search “Wi‑Fi Calling” in Settings). If required, confirm your emergency address. While the cabin WiFi is connected and Wi‑Fi Calling is turned on, calls and texts will go over the internet when cellular coverage is poor; the phone or status bar usually shows “Wi‑Fi calling” when active.

Please use the internet responsibly and ensure that illegal material is not viewed or downloaded using our wi-fi. Should our internet service provider alert us to any illegal activity, we are legally obliged to provide details of the guests who were staying at the time that the infringement occurred to the relevant organization(s).

Troubleshooting

Our router is in our locked owner’s area, but we can check the connection and reset the router remotely, if needed. The internet connection will not work if the power is out at the cabin.
