Power Outages
Power and internet outages can happen more often here in the Smokies than in urban areas due to weather, fallen trees, and the longer local distribution lines. When the lights go out, it’s usually a temporary interruption — our utility provider typically responds quickly and restores service as soon as crews can access the lines. We have keeping flashlights and extra batteries handy. Note that sensitive electronics may be shut off during an outage to avoid damage from power surges when service returns.
You are in the Mountains, and power loss is more common than in the valley. We do not have a generator on site, but there are flashlights and table laterns available.
You will still be able to use the toilets, but will not have hot water.
The barbeque will still work if you need to cook, but the oven and stove will not.
We provide Starlink for internet service, which performs well even in remote locations but can be affected by heavy snow, dense foliage, or severe storms. If you lose connectivity, contact us first — we can run basic troubleshooting remotely and, when needed, reboot the router or Starlink dish for you.
If an outage or internet problem persists, we’ll coordinate with the power company or Starlink support and keep you updated on expected restoration times. Don’t hesitate to reach out anytime — we’ll do our best to resolve issues quickly and make your stay comfortable.
