Outdoor Living
When we say Tippity Top is all about the 270-degree views, we really mean it. Whether you are looking North toward Shagbark and the crests of the Smokies, West toward the Preserve, or South overlooking the rolling pastures of Wears Valley with the National Park as your backdrop, the scenery is the undisputed star of the show. We’ve designed our outdoor spaces to be a true extension of the cabin, with mood lighting that makes the decks just as inviting after the sun goes down as they are during a mountain sunrise. Both upstairs bedrooms even feature their own private porches, perfect for that first cup of coffee in total peace.
The main decks are built for “slow living” and high-quality hanging out. You’ll find plenty of comfy seating, including two polywood porch swings that are practically begging for a nap. If you’re feeling a bit more social, we have two outdoor TVs for game day, a dining table with a firepit right in the center for cozy meals, and some classic fun like our ring game and cornhole. If you want to stretch your legs, the neighborhood is a wonderful place for a stroll. Head down the driveway and take a double-left for a scenic route, or go right and take the next right onto the gravel road for a different perspective. Just remember to keep your eyes peeled—the wildlife around here likes the views just as much as we do!
Exploring the Decks The outdoor space at Bearly Hangin’ On is designed to be lived in. Because we have a 270-degree panoramic view, you have a front-row seat to three distinct mountain perspectives. To the North, you’ll see the Shagbark community and the high ridges; to the West, you overlook the Preserve; and to the South, you have a clear view of Wears Valley with the National Park rising behind it. We’ve installed mood lighting throughout the decks to make the space usable well after dark. For your comfort, we’ve provided two polywood porch swings and plenty of seating options. Both upstairs bedrooms have private balcony access if you’re looking for a quiet spot away from the group.
Games and neighborhood Walks If you’re looking for a bit of movement, feel free to use the cornhole boards or the ring-on-a-string game located on the main deck. For those who want to stretch their legs further, the neighborhood is quite walkable, provided you’re ready for some mountain inclines! A popular route is to head down the driveway, take a left, and then another immediate left for a nice paved walk. Alternatively, turn right at the bottom of the driveway and take the first right onto the gravel road. Please be bear-aware when walking; while the neighborhood is peaceful, we share this mountain with plenty of wildlife, so keep your eyes open and your distance wide.
