Sometimes a little extra air circulation is all you need to feel perfectly “at home.” We’ve kept things simple and reliable with our ceiling fans, which you’ll find in every bedroom and in several of our outdoor spaces.

To keep things low-maintenance (and to save you from hunting for lost remotes!), we’ve stuck with a classic setup: most of our fans are controlled by dedicated wall switches. You’ll typically see two switches side-by-side—one for the light and a separate one to adjust the fan speed. If you find you need a bit more of a breeze, we also have portable fans stored in the downstairs closet that you can move wherever you need them.

Secure & Comfortable: Doors and Windows

We want you to feel safe and cozy during your stay. We’ve equipped the cabin with high-quality Andersen doors and windows to keep the mountain breezes exactly where they belong! They are a bit more heavy-duty than standard house doors, so here is the “trick” to operating them:

The “Lift-to-Lock” Technique Our exterior swinging doors use a 3-point locking system. To truly lock the door from either the inside or the outside:

  1. Close the door firmly.
  2. Pull the handle upward. You’ll feel the locking bolts engage at the top and bottom of the frame.
  3. Once the handle is lifted, you can then turn the thumb-turn (inside) or use the Yale smart lock (outside) to secure it.

Sliding Doors The sliding glass doors are your gateway to those 270-degree views! For security, please ensure these are locked from the inside whenever you leave the cabin or settle in for the night.

Windows & Climate Control The Smoky Mountain air is wonderful, but the weather can change in a heartbeat. To keep the cabin comfortable and help our HVAC system run efficiently, we kindly ask that you keep all doors and windows closed whenever the AC or heat is running. This prevents the system from overworking and keeps the mountain humidity from making things feel “sticky” indoors.

A Quick Departure Note When you head out for a day in the National Park or check out at the end of your stay, please do a quick “walk-around” to ensure all windows are latched and every door is closed and locked. It
