General Information

Alexa

We’ve placed three Amazon Alexa devices around the cabin to make your stay more comfortable and convenient — everything from hands‑free lighting and fans to music, timers, and quick local info. If voice assistants aren’t your thing, no problem: simply unplug the device from the back (not the wall) and it will be off. There are no cameras—only audio Echo devices—and nothing in the cabin is being monitored. We love using Alexa at home and wanted to offer the same helpful features for guests who enjoy them.

Alexa is especially handy when you’re juggling bags, kids, or muddy boots: ask for the weather before heading out, set timers while cooking, play calming playlists for bedtime, or control lights without tracking down switches. Please be mindful of volume so other guests and neighbors aren’t disturbed. If a device doesn’t respond or you’d like it reset, text us and we’ll take care of it quickly.

Here are 15 friendly, useful things you can ask Alexa while staying in the Smokies:

  • “Alexa, turn on the living room lights.”
  • “Alexa, turn off all lights.”
  • “Alexa, turn on the porch fan.”
  • “Alexa, set a 20‑minute kitchen timer.”
  • “Alexa, play family music” or “Alexa, play children’s stories.”
  • “Alexa, play white noise for 30 minutes.”
  • “Alexa, what’s the weather for today in Gatlinburg?”
  • “Alexa, will it rain this afternoon?”
  • “Alexa, what’s the temperature right now?”
  • “Alexa, how long to drive to Dollywood?”
  • “Alexa, find nearby coffee shops.”
  • “Alexa, what family attractions are open today in Pigeon Forge?”
  • “Alexa, remind me to lock up at 10 PM.”
  • “Alexa, tell me a Smoky Mountains fun fact.”
  • “Alexa, add milk to my shopping list.”

Please don’t set any alarms – or if you do, clear them before you leave. I don’t want to wake up future guests unexpectedly! Enjoy — and again, unplug any device anytime if you prefer complete quiet.
